There’s been a big rise in the number of children and young people getting orthodontic treatment and so braces have become a normal part of life; in fact, they are almost a rite of passage at secondary school now — so it’s likely your child will be more than happy to get theirs if they do need them.
They can have fun swapping the colours on their brace every time it’s adjusted or, if they want something a bit more discreet, we offer a range of invisible systems.
The 2003 Children’s Dental Health Survey found a third of children can benefit from orthodontic treatment, yet many parents wait for their kids to qualify for NHS braces and miss their chance for less invasive treatment.
It’s best if we assess your child from the time their permanent teeth start coming through because, when teeth and jaws don’t fit together properly, it’s often much easier to fix early on in life.

- Any potential problems will be spotted earlier so they can be nipped in the bud with less invasive treatment. That means shorter treatment time and less expense.
- We offer a range of invisible orthodontic systems if your child wants their treatment to be discreet.
- We’re open seven days a week and till 8pm on weekdays.
There’s no waiting list at Smile Up (the NHS waiting list can be a year or more).
What to Expect
Orthodontics come in a range of styles and so it all depends on the case your child presents (what teeth need moving where) and their preference for how they want to look during treatment.
It all begins with a consultation with our principal dentist Ric who will take them through their options. Braces can be worn for anything from twelve months to more than two years.
