How often should I be visiting?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question and there are various factors that influence the answer. Some patients may require treatment that is more hygienist-centred if their gums are particularly susceptible to inflammation, whilst other patients may incur cavities on a regular basis and need to see a dentist more often than the hygienist. For someone who cares well for their teeth, a routine dental appointment once a year is recommended and a hygienist appointment once a year – preferably twice a year – will fortify the gums against inflammation as plaque and tartar is removed. Consistency is key

The secret to healthy, great-looking teeth, is consistency. Consistency with your brushing and flossing, of course, but also being consistent with your routine visits. Skipping the odd check-up has repercussions on your teeth and could mean complex (and perhaps costly) intervention at a later stage.
