Airflow Teeth Polishing

Our Airflow system is a quick and comfortable way to remove the stains and discolouration caused by smoking or drinking red wine, tea and coffee, while thoroughly removing dental plaque.

You can book a hygiene appointment to get this done direct — you don’t have to see the dentist first.

It blasts a mix of water, compressed air and fine powder particles that’s more efficient than traditional scrape and polish treatment at removing the damaging biofilm that develops when dental plaque is colonised by bacteria.

If you’ve ever cringed as a scraping tool digs into your gums or a polishing disc presses onto your tooth you’ll welcome air polishing because it’s painless and fast. There’s no probing by metal tools and no vibration or heat — ideal if you suffer from sensitive teeth, and it’s three times faster than traditional methods.

What’s so good about Airflow Teeth Polishing?

  • It’s painless.
  • It’s quick — three times faster than traditional teeth cleaning methods.
  • There’s no scraping with metal tools.

What to expect

The tiny micro particles of powder actually cover and remineralise exposed dentin (where your gum has receded or your enamel has been worn away) and reduce dental sensitivity.

It’s also ideal for cleaning teeth before procedures that require sealants because it removes nearly 100% of bacteria and endotoxins (a toxin present inside a bacterial cell that’s released when it disintegrates). And it contains no glycerin (which can be found in traditional polishing pastes), making it easier for bonds and sealants to grip to tooth surfaces.

If we discover advanced gum disease in your mouth you may require an intensive course of hygiene treatment and then hygiene appointments every few weeks until your condition has cleared, but otherwise we recommend a hygiene appointment every three to six months, so at least every time you come in for your check-up.

If you’d like to make an appointment you can do it here or give us a ring on 0203 411 1550.
