CBCT Scans At Smile Up – The Advantages For Patients
CBCT scanners have become an invaluable tool for dentists around the world, allowing for better treatment planning, more effective reconstructive surgeries and dental implant procedures, and a window into areas of the mouth that were previously hard to work on and treat. Here at Smile Up Dental, we take referrals for all kinds of routine dental treatment in addition to patients who are particularly anxious and require sedation. So, how do CT scans benefit patients?
Lower doses of radiation
CBCT scanners use a lower dose of radiation than conventional CT scanners, with no radiation remaining in the body after the scan.
Speedy and painless
It takes 20-40 seconds to do a full mouth scan and approximately 10 seconds to scan a specific area. A simple scan will capture hundreds of images and allow your dentist to see your mouth from various angles and perspectives. Knowledge is power: when your dentist has more to work with, they’re going to be able to deliver a higher calibre of treatment.
Increased levels of accuracy
The scanner allows your dentist to perform what they need to with more ease which in turn, benefits the patient. As the scanner makes it easier for your dentist to measure your jawbone, implant placement is much more accurate and precise. Treatment planning is also superior, as we can do an optical scan to create a virtual model of your soft tissues, teeth and bones, helping us to see how your bite functions.
Allows for patient/dentist interaction
CBCT scanners allow your dentist to explain diagnoses with ease. The imaging software is a fantastic tool that dentists can use to show visuals alongside spoken explanation; when you understand more about your treatment, you’ll feel in safer hands.
